Jim Perkins is a composer and producer combining composition for acoustic instruments with laptop manipulations. He composes using a combination of generative processes, music theory and instinct. The subjects of his compositions often develop as the pieces are written and are inspired by a growing list of phenomena including: French 20th century music, emergence, traditional and 20th century harmony, experimental music production, graphic notation and collaborative composition.
